الغزو التركى لقبرص كان غزو عسكرى بدا يوم 20 يوليه سنة 1974، ردا على دعم القيادة العسكرية اليونانية الانقلاب فى قبرص والذى قام به الحرس الوطنى القبرصى[26][27] بالاشتراك مع المنظمة الوطنية للمقاتلين القبارصة ايوكا-بى، وقامو بازاحة الرئيس القبرصى المطران مكاريوس التالت وقامو بتعيين نيكوس سامبسون[28] مكانه.[29]

تقسيم قبرص

بسبب التوتر و العنف الكائن بين القبارصة اليونانيين والقبارصة الاتراك سنة 1974، قام القبارصة اليونانيين بمحاولة انقلاب ومحاولة ضم الجزيرة الى لليونان، قامت تركيا بالرد وذلك بغزو الجزيرة واحتلال الثلث الشمالى منها و اعلنتها جمهوريه مستقله، لكن لم يعترف احد بهذه الجمهورية الا تركيا و تجرى الان مباحثات لاعادة توحيد الجزيرة خصوصا بعد ان انضم القسم اليونانى منها الى الاتحاد الاوروبي.
