Русский: 25 мая 1988 года (в издании "К истории государственных символов Башкортостана" указана дата 25.5.1989 г.) исполнительный комитета Мелеузовского Совета народных депутатов БАССР принял решение "Об утверждении эскиза герба города" (решение №9/107 исполкома горсовета). Авторы проекта: Николаев О.Е., Писяев К.Т., Устинов П.Е., определились в результате конкурса по разработке герба (объявлен 12 ноября 1986 года, решением исполкома №263).

"Герб города представляет собой щит с голубым поясом. В верхней части в серебряном поле изображена куница - символ исконных богатств башкирского края. В нижней части в зеленом поле 2 накрест лежащие золотые снопы хлеба. В настоящее время основные предприятия и организации г. Мелеуза направлены на развитие земледелия, поэтому в герб города включена неповторимая эмблема - мощные колосья хлеба".

Куница на гербе говорит о принадлежности к Уфимской губернии, синяя полоса символизирует реку Агидель, а скрещенные колосья - хлеборобный район.
